Honoring the Seven, No Eight, Wonders of the World

The Brieant Youth Alliance (BYA) hosted it seventh annual charity golf tournament in White Plains, NY raising approximately $12,000 to support the development of unique educational programs that are free of charge to children of diverse ethnic backgrounds in the elementary, middle and high schools and incarcerated youth in in Westchester County, New York.

 The day began with an early breakfast at 10:30 AM giving golfers time to warm up followed by a BBQ lunch before a shotgun start (scramble format). In the evening, a cocktail reception was held with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, followed by dinner at 6 PM.  As we do every year, an award ceremony was held for the golfers followed by a silent auction and raffle that helps to support that the BYA programs.

 Tournament participants enjoyed a variety of competitions throughout the day in addition to a fun 18 holes of scramble golf.  Some of the activities included Men’s’ and Women’s longest drive and closest to the pin.

 This year we honored Seven, no eight, Wonders of the World – These eight strong and dedicated women, Eileen Hoggnagle, Lori O’Rourke, Kathy Rittenger, Betsey O’Leary, Nancy O’Rourke, LuAnn Woodbury, JoMarie Pica and Kathleen O’Rourke Gorman, have been instrumental in the development and support of the organization and have made such an impact over the years.

 “This year’s Brieant Youth Alliance golf tournament was a huge success this year! This year we had perfect weather. The golf course was in spectacular condition and we already look forward to next year’s event. It was a great day. A special thanks to our honorees and to all the volunteers who helped put it together. We couldn’t have done it with it without them”, says Diane Magri, Executive Director.
